Update: DVD Launch London 30-March-2009

The Disarm DVD was launched in London on the evening of Wednesday 25 March 2009. Approximately 60 guests attended the event at Portcullis House in the British parliament including diplomats, parliamentary staffers, campaigners, media, and film industry reps.

After the film was screened, Andy Whittaker the head of Dogwoof, the UK distribution partner for IndiePix, introduced a panel of speakers comprised of: member of parliament Frank Cook, former BBC journalist and parliamentarian Martin Bell, and Disarm director Mary Wareham. Co-director Brian Liu was unable to attend the London launch. The panel discussion covered a range of questions and issues relating to Disarm including how the relationship between the landmine problem and resulting 1997 Mine Ban Treaty and the cluster bomb problem and more recently created 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions. The role of the United Kingdom on both these issues was central to the achievement of the strong treaties. Many thanks to IndiePix, Dogwoof (Andy Whittaker, Caroline Addy, Louise Sambells), the All Party Landmine Eradication Group including its chair Frank Cook MP and Landmine Action UK (especially Portia Stratton).

The Disarm DVD is now available for purchase in the United Kingdom from and other retailers
